  1. Hi guys.

I have pinnacle studio 8 with a blue breakout box. I can capture to avi or mpg.

My problem is this, when I have captured to avi for editting (best quality mjpeg) I cannot import the avi into TMPEGEnc plus to encode to DVD mpeg. TMPEG just locks up and will not respond when I try to load the avi.

My only option at the moment is to convert to DivX first with Dr DivX. Although this methopd works I dont really want to keep wasting six hours just so I can convert to mpeg.

I think the only other format I can capture to in Huffyuv, but with that method I cannot record anywhere near the same amount of footage.

After a quick check I have just found out that with 31.2 Gigabytes free on my C drive I can capture:

2 hours 50 minutes capturing to MJPEG Best.
5 hours 50 minutes using MJPEG Better
17 hours 30 minute using MJPEG good
    25 minutes (yes 25 minutes) using YUV2.

I have no other codecs listed, other than ones Ive never heard of and am not sure of the quality of the output.

Hope you can help, thanks in advance.

Let DVD2SVCD do the conversion for you per this guide:
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/111846.php

I had a similar problem with TMPGE and never did figure it out. Started using DVD2SVCD and for some reason, TMPGE works with it.

    Give it a try.

Not AVI2SVCD. The program is DVD2SVCD but there is an option to convert AVI's. Read the guide. After the initial settings the program will do all the work for you. It will take some time, however. I usually run it at night and then go to bed.

Sorry, I didn't answer your question. Yes, the program will give you the option of using TMPGE to convert. You will have to select it as your converter of choice. (The other two options are Canopus Procoder and CCE).

  6. Yeah I meant DVD2SVCD, just configured everything. points to TMPEG straight away as soon as I check the radio button.

Ill let you know how I get along when I have captured something.

    Thanks alot mate.

  8. Donpedro,

Does that method work with MJPEG avi's?

    Vanster,

I tried that method and it di not work. However, after a few seconds it came up with a prompt stating that there was a scenarist file missing.

I deleted a file with a .scn extension. Could this be the scenarist fileand would it need this to convert?

    Cheers for he info guys.

Good question... I missed that part. I was using it with DV AVI.
