What AC3 bitrate gives near CD quality and what bitrate retains almost full quality of sound captured from a TV to PC analog audio in?

    Hi W_Eagle,

I use 192 kbps (WAV stripped from DV AVI to AC3 using ffmpeggui - dead simple to use) and get excellent results.

Others may say 128 or 224 or 256 - but given that the audio at any of these kbps is negligible when compared to the total bitrate allowance on a DVD of 9,484 kbps I would say that any of those would do... Base it on the quality of the original would be my guide.

    Hope that helps.
