Somebody somewhere is laughing at me right now.

My brother loaned me his copies of Equilibrium (Dimension),
and Versus 2 Disc ( Tokyo Shock) and I've played everything
all the way through, all three discs, and DVD Backup still will not decode
the the Vob Set 1 ( Dimension Home Video Logo), and Vob Set 2
( Extra Trailers on disc one, Hidden Movie Set on Disc two),
it gives me the error " Cannot decode VOb Set 1 or Vob Set 2".

And what makes it worse, is I 've played all discs five times, tried the soap trick, tried VLC and just playing the "offending" parts,
and nothing seems to work with DVD Backup.

I switched to OSEX, and went through and using the "DVD Folders"
    option, it worked fine.

I've tried throwing away PREFs, throwing out and re-installing DVD Backup, and ran Cocktail. Nothing can get DVD Backup to make it
    through these discs.

    Anyone got any ideas?

DVDBackup doesn't work with all DVDs. I would recommend using OSEx in DVD Image mode for those situations. I would strongly discourage the use of OSEx in DVD Folder mode, as I've found that it messes up the video at times, introducing glitches and errors in the output it saves to your hard disk. DVD Image mode takes about 3x longer, but has yet to munge my videos to this point. I can't say anymore, but there will be a new solution out Real Soon Now™, that promises to be a lot more reliable and convenient (in most cases).
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

I agree. DVDBackup just doesn't work for some DVDs. It could be any number of reasons why it doesn't work. BUt between DVDBackup and OSeX most DVDs can be ripped.

    Thanks guys!
i'm so ready to move on.
And yes, I got ready to process my OSEX DVD Folder
rips this morning in DVDTOX, and it entirely started skipping
through the VIDEO_TS folder for Equilibrium,
doing some VOBs, but mostly ignoring the originally stated
problem ones, and one or two others!!

I'll re-rip using the DVD Image option tonight
( hopefully this will do it, my brother's coming to get his
originals tomorrow!) and see what happens then.

My faith is restored in mac dvd ripping!

tgpo, I'm off to work...I'll try the DVDSP file there!
