  1. Does any one know what benefits would be to record in LP mode. I know you can fit more on one cassette but what is the down side to this.

    what is the quality difference between SP and LP. can you tell the difference?

  2. the downside to this would be that it reduces the quality of both the picture and sound but now a days, this is hardly noticeable especially with a 6 head or a 8 head vcr as they also support EP which triples the recording time on a cassette. if your recording to a DVD-/+R(W) then the same rules apply. for some DVD-Video Recorders the amount of recording time varies even if its HP, SP, LP, EP, SLP or FP.
