Hello,
I have recently begun trying to find out how I can improve the quality of an awfully bad quality AVI file. I split the audio from the video with VirtualDub and have made the audio basically perfect using GoldWave. But the video quality is still very bad. I’m not sure if I’m clutching at straws and there isn’t anything I can do to improve the video quality. Can anyone give me any advice to improve the quality or the best way of encoding this into an MPEG which I can make a VCD from. I intend to use TMPGenc to encode.
I know I have been very vague in the description of how bad the video quality but I am very new to this and basically don’t know how to or what to describe.
If any other information is required to decide if there can be any quality improvements I will be happy to post this information
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks a lot

There are filters for virtualdub which I understand work very good with captured footage. TMPGEnc has a built in noise reduction filter as well, it increases encoding time dramatically however. Do a forum or google search for vdub filters.
