  1. I was trying to import mpeg2 files into scenarist, but it kept rejecting the files saying it only support 4:3 ration files or the like. Same things happens in ReelDVD. However, I have no problem importing the same files into DVD Producer, which is actually the same product line with Reel DVD and Scenarist. So anyone give me a hint?

Make sure when you setup the parameters of your project you set it to 16:9 first. Its selectable in that first series of menu's that pop up when you open Scenarist.

Other than that can you post the exact message that Scenarist gives you? That would help.

  3. thanks man, though i'm not sure why i should go 16:9, i did give it a try but the problem is still there. what i always got is "Info: 0 file(s) accepted, 1 file(s) rejected". scenarist simply doesn't accept any of my mpeg1 and mpeg2 videos encoded with TMPGEnc. actually each time i started the program i got warning messages like "Warning: Quadrant or Sigma Design MPEG decoder is not present or the driver is not installed", and "Warning: Hardware decoding of video may not work." i'm not sure if this is the cause for the problem and how to work it out.

Well since you initially stated that the error you were receiving had something to do with a 4:3 asppect ratio not being supported, I assumed you were trying to import a 16:9 clip into a 4:3 project.

The error about the file not being accepted is a completely generic one. You get that anytime there is anything non-compliant about your file. But there is usually another erorr that follows immediately after which actually tells you what is wrong with the file. Without that error there is no way anyone can help you, and if Scenarist didnt give one, which would be very strange, than all I can tell you is to double check your settings in TMPGenc and make sure everything looks right. If its any consolation, I have had a hard time getting DVD compliant files out of TMPGenc myself.

Can you at least tells us what settings you used in TMPGenc regarding resolution, aspect ratio, bitrate, and whether its mpeg1 or mpeg2?

As far as the error regarding the Signma decoder not working, it means that your hardware mpeg2 decoder card is not properly installed, which is usually a sign that you are using a pirated copy of Scenarist. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, however, and just refer you to your local reseller to ensure the package you bought did in fact include the card and that the card is installed properly.
