  1. This probably isn't the right forum or sight but not sure where to look at this moment. I'm looking for an 'old movie' effect but not like the black and white, Charlie Chaplin style movie. These are the 60's or 70's home movies that I saw in the Wonder Years, I think.

The home video recorder at that time I believe was reel with no audio and it had an interesting retro effect I would like to apply to my home movies.

I have Ulead and Pinnacle but nothing in these apps to do anything like this.

Anybody know of a plug-in or software that can do this? Any idea where to start looking?

Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

Digieffects has a plugin for Adobe AfterEffects called Cinelook, it allows you to match color curves and grain for many types of commercial film, and also allows you to add dust, scratches, flicker, etc.

it has some presets that mimic the "old super-8 film dredged up from the back of the garage" look, slightly hazy, slightly greenish / brownish tint, slightly washed out, with that super-8 grain.

I think most any "film look" program can do it, but some will take more fiddling than others - Cinelook might give you a good road map to follow.
