I ripped and made them region 0 (or so I thought). Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks,
Brian

Yup. It's called "your tv and/or dvd player don't play PAL discs".
Region coding has NOTHING to do with PAL/NTSC.

You could purchase a good encoder like Mediaconcepts, and re-encode the program from PAL to NTSC, or go for the least hassle and get yourself a good cheap region free DVD player. You're call.

you could buy a cheap dvd player that will crap out on you in a few months or you could go to walmart & buy the pioneer dv-260. less than $80, plays pal & ntsc s/vcd & dvd-rw/+rw.. awesome dvd player.

Only problem with Pioneers (I own a DV-525) is threefold:
1. Their VCD decoding sucks. Not SVCD... just VCD. For whatever reason, their MPEG1 algorithms are just crap.
2. Seeking through a VCD or SVCD is an exercise in PAIN on a Pioneer.
3. No SVCD-DVD support.

My sub $50 US players both convert NTSC/PAL on the fly, and do it very well. It's a hell of lot simpler to do it at the player instead of re-encoding everything. (dam pesky 23.97/25 fps issues :P )

i havent tried and svcd-dvd yet, but i believe i will..
the dv-250 is a good one too, the only real problem i have with it is the fact that it wont convert pal dvd's to ntsc on the fly.. but the dv-260 does -
Cool, I might have my next upgrade then. I hate getting rid of the DV-525, even though it's dying slowly. It plays damn near every format (except SVCD-DVD, of course).
