  1. Hi all,

As you can see from the topic, I've got a problem with subtitles when I'm using IFOEdit.
This is how I do it:

    1) Convert the subtitles from SRT to SUP with SRT2SUP
    2) Author a new DVD with IFOEdit (m2v, ac3, sup)
    3) Fix the subtitle colors in VTS_01_0.IFO with IFOEdit
    4) Burn with Nero

When I try to play the disc with WinDVD, everything works fine. The subtitles are synced and displayed in correct colors.
But when I try to play the disc in my Philips 728 DVD player, the subtitles do not appear. I can cycle thru them with my remote, but nothing shows up on the screen! I really don't understand why this is happening. I've never had a similar problem with subtitles before.
I've heard that IFOEdit may not produce completely DVD compilant files. Is any of this true? Are there any other authoring programs that can author with subtitles and are as easy to use as IFOEdit? I don't really need any menus, I only need to mux the m2v, ac3 and sup files.

    Thanks for your help!

I have the same problem. I have a Marquant 333K which supposedly plays anything and everything. I also checked the colors/transparency and all should be right. Still - no subtitles show up. Any ideas?

  3. I solved my problem by using DVDMaestro to author. It's actually very simple.

All you need to do is demux your video and convert your subtitles to spruce format using subtitle workshop. Then you import video, audio and subs into DVDMaestro.
The result are fully working subs. You can copy the new VTS_01_1.VOB - VTS_01_4.VOB over your old files and you get the same DVD as before, but with different subs.
