  1. Hi guys,

I'm getting Cyclic Redundancy Checks on 2 out of 4 Datasafe Media 9.4GB DVD-RAM discs I recently bought.

Wondered if anyone else has experience of this media or the LG writer?

The discs were formatted as FAT32 on Win XP.

    Regards

  3. i use DVDRAM on my stand alone panny E50 and i want to know how to convert the DVDRAM file to VIDEO_TS. I am running on win98 and have a lite-on dvd rom drive capable of reading DVDRAM. I know that i can do a straight copy to DVDR but the DVDR will only play on pc using power dvd xp, but i want to be able to play back my transfers on my standalone dvd player(s)
    regards

I have so far only used Fuji ram media with no probem with the 4040b, but I don't have any experience with Datasafe Media. Do you have the latest firmware for the drive?

  5. Thanks jr,

Yes I have the latest - 3.01 as I recall. The 4.7GB Maxell that came with the 4040 seems fine but then again so is one of the Datasafe discs.

This DVD media stuff all seems a bit hit and miss to me.

    PITA

  7. To return to my thread:

Actually I discovered yesterday there is a 302 firmware update but it has made no difference to my Datasafe media problem. Perhaps I'm best paying the money and sticking to Maxell or Panasonic like the manual recommends.

    Mus1,

I've used Fuji(+/-), Veratim DataLife (not plus)(+/-), Apple(-R), Ritek(+) and Phillips(+/-) with no problem all on the 301 firmware. This drive can be picky about media but you don't have to spend a fortune to get a good burn.

  9. Thanks jr,

The DVD-RAM is of initial concern - I see Taiyo Yuden are recommended for +R in the manual so I'll check out UK prices on those and the ones you've mentioned also.

    Cheers!
