  1. Please help me here!

I am trying to convert a XviD video file to DivX. The audio is AC3. So what I did is open the source file in VirtualDub, and using Direct Stream Copy I saved the audio to an .ac3 file. Then, I converted the .ac3 file to .wav using HeadAC3he.

Now in order to get back my DivX file, which is supposed to have its size reduced (hence the whole conversion thingy), I chose Full Processing Mode under video and selected the DivX codec under compression with reduced bitrate of course. Under audio I chose again Full Processing Mode and WAV Audio, pointing the program to my newly created .wav file from before. Under audio compression I chose MP3.

No matter what I tried the video and the audio are not synced. Does anybody know what am I doing wrong here?

P.S. I don't know if this is any help for you but I noticed that the length of the .wav file is 57:22.382 while the length of the video is 57:25.360. No matter what I do the length of the .wav file is always the same.

Instead of starting all over it would be easier if you fix the out of sync file you have. You can do this in Virtualdub by going to the Audio menu and selecting "Interleaving". Change the values until you get the A/V to match up then save using Direct Stream Copy for both audio and video.
