  1. I recently got a Sony 510a and the wrong software came with it. Called the Co and they sent a disk that had the correct software - but it was a burnt cdr!

Yes, I have a call into the company (Pc hardware 4u) to get an oem disk, not a copy. But just in case the problem is not the disk, and is a real problem encounter by others, here is my problem.

I installed mydvd, rebooted and got as far in the reboot to a blue screen and - an exception oe has occurred.... in vxd... Th computer hung there so I rebooted in safe mode and uninstalled mydvd and all was well.

I tried a variety of fixes, some from the web (move files from common files to mydvd folder) and some on my own but not luck.

I did use Uleads Movie Factory (the software that came with the drive, but the wrong software) to capture and burn a dvd and it worked fine, but I bought the drive both for the drive and the software, especially Veritis backup software since I have backup exec.

My system is win 98se, Sony dru510a (European version), 1.2 gig athlon and 2 large capacity drives.

  3. Sorry!

Has anyone had this problem - my dvd causing a hanup when booting?

If so, what can be done to correct it?
