I used the Morgan M-Jpeg compression codec to capture to AVI format with ATI AWI 8500DV (MMC 8.8 software) through my VCR. When I try to open the AVI file in Adobe Premiere 6.0 I get "Unable to open that file...File uses an unsupported compression format". Does Premiere not support the Morgan compression? What compression does it support? Thanks.

  2. Short AVI movies from my digital camera use MJPEG also.
Windows XP could play them fine but Adobe wouldn't recognize them.

Until I installed Morgan MJPEG that is.
But since you say you already have Morgan MJPEG installed, I would guess that maybe you don't have the full comress + decompress version or you don't have your decompressor side configured correctly.

If you're using a compressor that came with your ATI or one you downloaded for free, you may need to buy the full version from Morgan.
If you have the full version, check your decompress settings and also try a re-install. You may need to install the codec AFTER installing Premiere.

At any rate Morgan MJPEG works fine for me with Adobe Premiere 6 and Windows XP.

Thanks for the reply. I figured out my problem. I tried to "open" the avi file instead of "importing" it. When I chose import it worked fine. Thanks for the help!
