Are PC games written on cds or dvds? How do you bypass the copy protection and burn them?

Pc games could be written on DVDs or cds, but since not everyone has a DVD-Rom they are generally released on cd media.
If the game is copyprotected you usually need to use a modified .exe file to load it. There are so many sites which deal specifically with backing up pc games. I would think DVDRhelp would be the last place you would look for this type of question. -
Try searching for a site called gamecopyworld.
It may even be .com, I can't remember (the last game I played was Tomb Raider 3)
Willtgpo, my real dad, told me to make a maximum of 5,806 posts on vcdhelp.com in one lifetime. So I have. -
Are Disk Images possible on a PC?
for me I just back up all my games to Image format and then burn them all to a DVD
i can fit a lot of game images on DVD so thats why i do that.
if i want to play them, i just put the dvd in, mount the image and off I go.
Is something like this possible on PC? -

Alcohol 120% can copy most protected CDs perfectly... If u dont want to use the CD to play, then got gamecopyworld, megagames, or just search google for the NoCD Patch to play. Make sure it matches your version tho. Astalavista.box.sk also has many game patches, but deals mostly illegal stuff.

how about disk images!? can PC's make those? Often i just image my cd, mount it and then it plays just like the cd was in there. -
u can do that on a PC, sure.
You don't need NoCD cracks for burned CDs, do you? (I don't) What copy protection scheme requires this?
NoCD is for playing without the CD in the drive, to save yourself from constant disc switching... -
another thing you can do is copy it in nero using RAW mode and it will copy perfectly and play off the cd.

In my mind the only 3 tools you really need to backup PC games are Alcohol 120%, A-Ray Scanner, and a decent CD/DVD burner. I actually preffered to make CD images and use virtual drives to play my PC games, that way you don't get any lag you might get with your CD/DVD-ROM.
Using this method all you have to do is scan your disc with A-Ray scanner, this will tell you what copy protection the disc has. Then you pick the copy protections profile in Alcohol 120% and write at the slowest speeds. -
I haven't found a NoCD crack for Doom3 yet. I looked as soon as I got it. Also, I heard Doom3 has Safedisc 3.2 - a real bitch to get around
