Before I found this website & forum, I did a little research and finally ordered DVD x Copy Gold for my new burner. (good deal, software, 25 dvd-rs, 10 cases, Moviefactory software - $69.00) After reading through the forums, I found that I should of just stuck with the freeware DVD Shrink. Well, I'll have both. (DVD x Copy Gold was a gift anyway - not my money) I've seen a lot of negative comments in this forum about it and was wondering if there are people out there that are using it successfully? I plan on experimenting with both and using whatever works best for me. The website says that the latest version will compress to 1 DVD or full size to 2, allow you to choose what special features to keep or delete, etc. Also, DVD Shrink says that it decrypt's the DVD too. So with that, I'm figuring that DVD Decrypter is not necessary. Am I correct? Thanks for your time and any comments.

Since nobody wanted to reply, I'll tell you what I found after I got the program. DVD X Copy Gold comes with DVD X Copy and DVD X Copy Express--2 separate programs. The website was not clear on this. It said that Gold did all of these various things. They didn't tell you that one program does one thing and the other program does other things. So if you buy it expecting to do everything, forget it. DVD X COPY Express is very quick and easy - but it won't copy special features. However, it will compress a DVD-9 onto one DVD-5. DVD X Copy will copy everything but not on one disk. It sucks. Easy to use--if that's what you want.

I learned through this forum and experience. Get DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. They're free and do everything you want them to.

I just wish someone would have posted and let me know before I spent my cash!!!

the only time i use dvdxcopy, is if i want to put a whole dvd9 on two dvd5's with no compression. in the settings i have it put the temp files in an east to find place. when it says to insert blank dvd to burn. i open up nero(without closing dvdxcopy, or it will delete the files)and burn with nero, the burning engine for dvdcopy is very unstable and makes a lot of coasters

    Update:

I downloaded the latest version of DVD X Copy gold (included with price of original) and found that the new version of DVD X Copy Express will copy the entire disk now--including menus, special features, etc. (it shrinks it down to one disk too) That was one of the drawbacks. Now the only thing is the backup warning at the beginning......
