I’m trying to create a “best of DVD” of my music DVDs.
1. I use DVD Decrypter version 3.1.9.0 to extract chapters as VOB.
2. I rename all VOBs as VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB… and copy all to a new folder.
3. I then use IFOedit version 0.96 to create a new IFO file.
4. I burn DVD with Nero version 6.3.0.2.
I’m facing 2 problems:
1. Burning more than 9 VOB files seems impossible. Nero does not accept it for compatibility reasons. I tried to create two groups of VOBs: VTS_01_x.VOB and VTS_02_x.VOB but then I couldn’t create a “common” IFO... So I’m merging VOBs together to keep number of VOBs under 9.
2. HOW CAN I CREATE A NEW DVD MENU with these VOB files!
I know it’s easy when you know how… and I’m sure there are a lot of you Geeks out there ready to help a poor Newbie like me![]()
Thanks for the help in advance.

Hello nkiwan.
I'd suggest you use DVD Shrink v3.0b5 (or wait till the end of the week for v3.1).
- Simply use the re-author "Start/end" feature to rip the parts (or chapters) you want to include in your compilation.
- Save them to separate folders.
- Then use re-author again to make your compilation.
A very simplistic guide, but you might find it useful:

Woo hoo - another version of Shrink!
I have made a couple "best ofs" using shrink - works great, except for one thing - each "re-author" shows up as a seperate title, and on my "older" Apex DVD player, this causes a 1-2 sec "freeze" between scenes. So for compilations with a definite start and end point between scenes (i.e. music videos) this doesn't matter, and this is a painless and very fast way to get it done - if you are trying to create a bunch of 5 second movie scenes joined together, may be a problem depending on your player.
I know "seamlessly join titles" was one of things being considered for development, so maybe it part of this version? -
You're welcome, nkiwan.
Please keep us informed. -
fyi - another nice thing about shrink is the ability to load multiple dvd's at one time - i.e. if you have 2 or more dvd's on your computer you can re-author directly from the DVD's instead of ripping to the hard drive first.

DVDShrink and TMPG Author for my 'Best Of' DVD's. I have a particularly killer George Carlin DVD, as well as the best of Leslie Neilson, 'Matrix' fight scenes, 2 Monty Pythons, and one of rude funny bits (like the dog scenes in American Wedding).
It's very easy and no re-encoding. Goes as fast as I can find the scenes (Audio in Shrink would be a big plus...but I preview in MPlayer classic instead). To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
"Audio in Shrink would be a big plus..."
Big plus coming up at the end of the week.
