    Hi all,

I have Lord of the Rings 2 Towers retail no copy and for some reason it freezes near the beginning of scene 51. But just on one of my players. I have a Sony dvp nc650v which it locks up on and a Sony dvp c660. I can't see any scratches on the disc (disc side) but I did see a scratch or gouge on the label side so tried to smooth it out as much a posible the end result was a small area with no label. So now there is kind of like a pot hole on the label side (remeber this is my original). Its near the outer edge of the disc so I suspect that if the disc is damaged then that would probably reason (there are a total of 53 scenes). This player has been very reliable. I have played this dvd on my c660 and my PC with no problems. I have cleand the player with a DVD laser cleaner with no success. Can anybody shed some light on this mater.

    Thank you very much.

Why would you that? do you think its the DVD or dvd player?

This is what I have done since post; applied a clear label and color the area with no label art with a dvd label sharpie. The problem is still there but now I can Fast foward (with a few tries) past the problem area. Just to note the problem area onel spans maybe 1 or 2 frames very little but in the same place. That tells me it's the DVD. But it's wired that it plays fine on other players..............let me know

    Thanks

  5. The other players may have better Error Correcting Circuitry that are able to deal with the "flaw". The ECC capabilities really do vary widely from brand-to-brand as well as model-to-model.
