Recently, I had to reformat my c-drive and re-install Win 98.
As I've been putting it back together, I've noticed a problem with divx video files that I haven't had before.....I've encoded quite a few videos to divx before without the problem, and of course played them problem free as well.
The problem is an image/color distortion. The video plays fine....no problems with speed, etc. But the images themselves have a distortion kind of like a topo map. Seems like contour lines effected by an objects/persons shape.
Anyone familiar with this and if so a fix?

It's what you are using to render the AVI's. The codec or the Directshow plugin. You need to update that and it should work. Alternately you are missing some 4cc header registrations (how windows knows what codec to use on what AVI) are missing and the default sucks.
