  1. I want to convert some DVD video files that are already NTSC 16:9 WS into DVD MPEG-2 PAL 16:9 WS using only TMPGEnc.

My question is: What is the best way, or most possible way, to convert NTSC 16:9 to PAL 16:9 with the original video just basically pasted on a PAL video with the tiny black bars at the sides? (instead of the top and bottom cropped for PAL)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

And again, this is only regarding using TMPGEnc

Not really sure what you mean, converting 16:9 NTSC to 16:9 PAL will not result in any black bars at the side, or any change to the size of the ones at top and bottom if they exist on the original.

    Confused.

  3. Sorry. I must apologize. I meant basically NTSC pasted on PAL, keeping the aspect ratio of the NTSC source while displaying on a PAL format with black bars on TOP and BOTTOM, not on the sides. I got that confused with something else!

  4. Using TmpGenc, re-encode from 720*480 to 720*576. Let TmpGenc resize for you, make sure you set the DAR to 16:9 and thats all there is to it. The aspect ratio is determined by the DAR setting.
Oh, and you probably want to set the Source aspect ratio setting to 16:9 525 line NTSC if feeding the source mpeg-2 directly to TmpGenc. Use 1:1 if frameserving I think.
