  1. ok, i capture using picvideo mjpg without a problem.

I review it and/or edit it in vdub. but, when I go to encode it with CCE or tmpg, i get decompress errors. i've reinstalled the codec a number of times.

for fun, i made an avs script and loaded that into vdub. i was able to reproduce the decompression error.

has anyone else encountered this problem or have a solution?

    thanks,

It's somthing about the way that Vdub records dropped frames.

I workaround it by frameserving the video from vdub. You could also re-save the stream using huffyuv if you has the time/space to accomidate.

  3. Thanks for the quick response snowmoon.

I'm not capturing with vdub, i'm capturing with avi_io.

my workarounds so far are, convert to huffyuv (as you suggested) and then recompress (a big pain) copy the file to another computer to compress (where i don't get the decompress error).

i need to find some way to remove every trace of the picvid codec on my pc and reinstall it. my guess is that running the uninstall isn't removing everything.
