  1. Please coulld some one help.
I have some movies that i downloaded from the net and would like to put them on to a DVD-R.

The movies are round about 700Mb in size. And are .AVI
All the movies are of good quality.

When i try to convert them on to disk one file nearly takes up the whole DVD-R disk. How is this, as the file is only around 700Mb and the DVD-R is 4.7Gb ?
I used Nero 6 and Video Studio 7 to convert the files.
Is it possibile to put a few movies on to one DVD-R

It depends. What are the titles of these movies and filenames?

The size of the AVI doesn't matter at all. It's the playing time that matters, together with the bit rate used when encoding the AVI to mpg. You can usually put 2 hours of excellent quality video on a DVD. Lower quality=lower bit rate=more playing time per DVD.

  5. On the other hand if you are just looking to store the avi files on a DVDR to get them off your hard drive and are not interested in viewing them on a stand alone DVD player then you can burn the DVDR as a data DVDR. You will still be able to watch them on your PC and you can fit about 6 of them at 700mb apiece on each disc.
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space.

  6. Thanks for the help guys.

I now understand its the playing time of the movie not the .AVI size.
