  1. Hello everyone.....just completed and burned my first Svcd2dvd. It came out great....only thing is the dvd wont play on my sony which usually plays the dvd backups that I author. The DVD plays great on my norcent dvd player. I know that alot of people call putting a svcd on a dvd ....dvd-svcd's. In order to get my sony to play svcd's I usually save the svcd to my hd and then put the header trick on it and burn as a vcd to trick my dvd player. Has anyone tried putting the header trick on a svcd and then running it through SVCD2dvd? Im wondering if anyone has tried that?

  3. I'm trying it as I write this. What I am attempting to do is that since my sony dvd player does not play svcd's on cd's without being tricked into thinking that it is a vcd....I thought the same might be true for a dvd-svcd....if I put the header trick on my svcd before I put it into SVCD2DVD that maybe when I burn the DVD , my dvd player will be tricked into thinking that it is a dvd-vcd....Now even Im confused. Either way I will report the findings.

If your play doesn't play svcd without the header trick you need alot of tricks to make a dvd-scvd play. Cause first the player is tricked that the svcd is vcd and then that svcd is a dvd.

I think you have a hard time to make it work. Cause i think the minimal feature you player has to have to play dvd-svcd is that it plays svcd.

  5. Well, Im getting this error when running SVCD2DVD when I try to put the SVCD with the header trick into SVCD2DVD.
    "Erroneous packet size,skipping
    Unable to open file"
So I guess this doesnt work....Unless Im doing something else wrong.

I think it is cause it would like a SVCD header and not a VCD header with a SVCD so i think you need to try the VCD trick afterwards or do the complete process bij hand from reencoding the audio till authoring the dvd.

My bro has a sony ns300 that does not play svcds but we managed to find a method of putting 3 svcds onto 1 dvdr and it plays fine on the sony.
    1. Isobuster to extract mpg
    2. Tmpgenc to change audio to 48khs
    3. DVD patcher to change headers
    4. Ulead movie factory to produce dvd commpliant files
    5. Burn with nero.
If the ulead video ts folder is too big (might be around 4.8gig) run dvd shrink to bring it back down to size then burn.
    Hope this helps mate.

Does this mean reencoding? Or will it just accept 480x480?

yf2001usa - Yeah mate it does not re encode for me...just have to make sure that the files you add are all the same regarding PAL and NTSC and the audio is 48khs and the files have been patched with DVD patcher. If any of these parameters is not met then it will try and re encode and you dont want to do down that path
It just gets on and creates the video ts folder, takes around half hour i guess on my 2.66 P4 with 512 ram. If the program says may take time to render then there is a problem with the files you added.

vinnyv07 - No problem mate...hope it gives the results you are after...the only problems me and my bro ran into were audio sync probs. They were very bad when we joined the svcd files before processing them. They were a lot better when we left the files separate although this means you have to access the 2 halves of the film from the menu which is not ideal. My advice is get a dvdrw or some cheap dvdr you aint bothered about to test cause it can be frustrating. We also used ssrc in tmpgenc with some success. Good luck.

  11. My advise is what every program you use to create something from .mpg never join .mpg cause 99% of the cases are out of sync afterwards.
