  1. I have downloaded the freeware version of vcdeasy. However, when I wanted to burn the mpeg2 file (for svcd), after pressing go, it says that my cd writer cannot be found. However, under cd writer, I have names of 3 writers. I do not know what my writer is called, but I know that my computer has a cd burner, since I burn mp3s using realplayer. I have downloaded vcdeasy before and have made several vcds. However, after getting a new computer, I do not know anything about my writer.
My question is, how do I let vcdeasy burn the mpeg clip? And what exactly is aspi? I downloaded it, but I do know where to save it.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me.
    Thanks so much!

    Hello!

I do not know exactly what the problem is with VCDEasy but to find out which units you have in your computer do the following:

    Go tp Start>>All Applications/Program files>Control Panel

In Control Panel select Performance and Maintenance then System then just open hardware tab and then select to open the Device manager which lists all the drives. Select one internal optical drive at a time and right click them and choose Properties. If there is a tab for DVD region then that is the DVD-ROM if not then it is probably the burner.

The strange thing is that you say that it lists 3 drives and not 2. Do you have an external burner?. Most computers only have 1 or 2 optical drives/units and 1 to 4 harddrives. But maybe VCDEasy lists something else also such as a Diskette drive or memorycard reader.
    Sincerely Joakim Agren!

Whe you first run VCDEasy look at the bottom right side of the window. Does it say "aspi seems valid: yes" or something else? You may need to run force aspi, do a google search and you should find it as well as directions for installation. If it says yes then go to Settings>CDRDAO and select a driver, maybe even the generic one but try them all. VCDEasy doesn't work with all burners so if it still doesn't work, then you can save your output in cue/bin format and burn with another program like nero. Simply uncheck "burn" in the main window and it will save as a cue/bin disk image.

  4. Make sure you go into settings and enable aspi tools and go down to cdwriter and click on your cd drive. Basically there are some things that have to be checked and enabled after installing. I ran into this recently. But yes, make sure aspi is installed on your system.
