  1. Would there be any reason as to why a DVD after using DVD Backup and burned with toast 6 shouldn't work? Has this happened to anyone else? The final dvd plays on my computer no problem but doesn't play in either of my standalone dvd players.

Are your standalone players capable of reading burned DVD media? If so, does your player have a brand preference? How did you burn this DVD? Take us through your process step by step.

seems like lots of people have this problem lately and its been all media brand related.

    antnymd posts some good questions.
try to answer them as specifically as possible

  4. I doubt it's the actual DVD itself. I tried burnign it twice. The image is already on my computer using dvd backup. Its small enough i don't need to use dvd2onex. I checked the files by using open video_Ts in the dvd player. it worked so i assuemd it was good but it still doesn't work after i burn it on my TV.

  5. stupid question, but is it burned with the DVD UDF file structure? As in you didn't drag the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS into Toast with the mac HFS+ system checked?

Either you made a common mistake creating the DVD with Toast, or your DVD players don't like the media (blank disc) you used to record it. To eliminate the former go through Galactica's DVD-to-DVD-R tutorial on his Web page. The link is in his signature on his above post.

    right...
it sounds like your making some simple mistake in the burning process

usually when the VIDEO_TS folder plays on your comptuer but you burn it and it doesnt play its because of an error in setting up the disk structure

    TOAST 6
    1. click DATA
    2. click DVD-ROM (UDF)
    3. click New Disc
    4. name the disk using all capitals and _ for spaces
    5. drag your VIDEO_TS folder to toast's window
    6. click NEW FOLDER (now where the New Disc button was)
7 name that new folder AUDIO_TS burn

    Toast 5
    1. Click OTHER and choose DVD from the menu
    2. click New DVD
    3. name the disk using all capitals and _ for spaces
    4. drag your VIDEO_TS folder to toast's window
    5. click NEW FOLDER (now where the New DVDs button was)
6 name that new folder AUDIO_TS burn

  8. I'm loosing my mind!!! I know this is an old thread but I can only hope somebody sees this...I have tried everything! OK, (I have to calm down) It's been 4 days now and many, many costers but I trying to pack up a PAL (region 2) disk for my own personal use. I'm using or have used :
DVDBackup,DVD2one and Toast 6 following all th' tutorials here. The thing plays on my Macs fine (burned disk, disk image, TS folder) but refuses to play on my Sony Standalone! CR*P! It and my friends Panasonic just says "cannot play" There do not seem to be any "invisable files" and I used Cocktail to double check. Media I have used includes TDK, Sony, Generic, CompUSA, Memorex and I'm currenly burning with a Ritek white top....I'm going to pause for a sec to continue (after the Ritek turnes into a coaster...)_______________________________Ok...Rit ek is now a coster.
BTW, I also tried one using Yade...

    HHHHEEEEELLLLPPPP!

  9. Simple question:

What kind of a Sony DVD player do you have : PAL or NTSC ? I also have problem with some PAL DVD's. DVDBackup will not change the region 2 DVD to region 0.
    Sorry...

    Go here:
    • "YadeX" an other extractor.
    for more info.

  10. I understand that but the error I get is not a region code error. I get that when I put the original DVD in. I get a cannot play error...and I burned one after ripping with Yade- unless it was a media problem, it did the same thing...

I feel like I'm the only one going though the crappy situation...

Media problem with so many different brands?
Did you try to back up an NTSC DVD ? If you don't have this problem with NTSC DVD's, then the problem is probably in the region code conversion.

  12. Guess what? It worked...I have a nice copy of the Transporter now...my first working NTSC rip. I guess it was my region 2 disk...Unfortunaly, Yade.95b doesnt seem to be working either. I guess I'll use 42 and recode all the menus with iDVD, if I can get my version on 42 to start working again! have you had any luck with Yade?

  13. Yade is nice application but it doesn't help with RCE protection (Region code protection).
You can also try: DVDBackup, Mactheripper, DVDRemaster, OSEx
    DVD2oneX, Disc Burner, Sizzle

    Personaly, I like this combinations:
    - DVDBackup + DVD2oneX + Toast
    - Yade + Toast

  14. Dude! DVDBack + DVD2oneX + Toast is what I used over and over on my PAL/Reg2 disk. Thats what we have been discussing all along. It have given me about 20 costers of various brands. I have to get the region 2 protection off of there or find a way to get the video off the disk. 42 doesnt work...

Yade + Toast would be great if it actually would get the region 2 off of the PAL disk. I'll check into the other programs you mentioned but really want to backup a European disk for US consumption.

  15. kurtmcq, I didn't say that this combinations will help you to get the region 2 off of the PAL DVD's. Unfortunately we still have to wait for the application that you (and me) need for Mac platform.

  16. Ok then! Yade says it works but I did notice other threads mentioned that it really doesnt work. I have a PC so do we know any PC programs that yank it off> IfoEdit?
