  1. I'm trying to convert a XVID file to DVD, I am following the guide that I have found (on this website) following it to a T but it still ain't working.

    I get this!

For some reason it keeps making the file like 200mins? Just noticed that!

  2. I experienced the same problem about a week ago. I solved it by uninstalling and reinstalling ffdshow. I also had to raise the priority level of the directshow filter to a "+1" after reinstalling ffdshow. Prior to this, XVIDs played just fine without me adjusting any priority settings in TMPGEnc Plus.

Now, the play time is displayed correctly and I am able to convert XVIDs to mpeg1 or mpeg2 with no problems.

It may not hurt to uninstall (delete) TMPGEnc and reinstall it if you are not using ffdshow.

I think my problem may have occurred because I installed PowerDVD 5. (I have PowerDVD along with Sonic CinePlayer installed on my computer.)

    All is well now.

*Oh...you may want to load the "unlock" template which is found in the "extra" folder, so you can adjust the bitrates for the video and audio. I usually use 224kbps for my mpeg2 encodes. After you unlock the settings, save the template under a specific name and it will appear under "other" the next time you open up TMPGEnc.

I had this exact same problem with a XVID file yesterday. I didn't think to reinstall ffdshow but I wished I had. I recompressed the file to MJPEG with VDub and all came out well. I wonder why this is happening?

VBR-Mp3 audio maybe? Extract the audio to wav and use that for the audio input, I use Goldwave.

I came across this page, farting around while my Bronco's were getting their butts kicked. Look closely at what XVID-1.0-Beta 3 fixed.

    Changelog:
    - Large filesizes now work correctly in 2pass.
    - Fixed possible out-of-bound-reads in 2pass.
    - Bframe decoding fix - sometimes bframes were referencing wrong future macroblocks.
    - Checking "use keyframe" in a zone now only makes the zone starting frame a keyframe.
    - Internal pixel aspect ratio fixes - added display aspect ratio (for anamorphic encoding).
Currently you'll need mplayer, vlcplayer (or 3ivx/Nero DShow filters) for correct playback.
    - Colour space fixes.
    - Directshow updates: brightness slider, postprocessing, output colour space choosable.
    - Some more sse2 optimization for P4s.
    - 2pass ratecontrol overhauled, including fast first pass.
    - User selectable turbo mode. *silent update: 17:15h MET, 26.12.2003: updated dshow decoder

I use two pass VBR for my encodes so I looked at my settings in TMPGE and sure enough, my direct show was moved down and I was using my XVID CODEC for decompression. I removed my old CODEC and installed this Beta version and the problem went away. I was able to open the same file as yesterday but it read right. I then moved direct show back to where it should be...
