I got some anime I want to burn their .mkv format. I have tryed VirtualDubMod to change it to an .avi file and then go from their and convert that to a svcd.
But every time I try VirtualDubMod to get it a .avi file and it comes with no sound what I later found out that it can not support the sound. I also heard that it can take away from the quailty of the movie.
So now I need someone to help to do these following things.
1. How do I get the .mkv format to scvd since I think that is a format my dvd player can handle without lossing too much of the quailty or how can I make it so that my dvd player can read the .mkv files. I tryed to burn it already as a .mkv but Nero does not know this format.
2. I want to use a video splitter to cut out the opening and ending credits so I can get more on a cd. If this is possible and not too much extra work since it will only save about 5 cds. But if it is not too much extra work I would like to do this. Saves watching the opening and closing what are all in jap anyways.
3. As you know I .mkv files can do many different langues and in dubbed or subbed. I just want the dubbed of the english(not sure if this will save some mbs and it will make it easier so that it does not try to switch into jap when you want to watch just the english but not sure if this will cause any trouble)
plz try to explain this as simple as you can to me this is my first time trying to burn a show let alone a .mkv file. So I need it basicly step by step.

Never heard of a .mkv video before. Try GSpot to see what it really is.

try using graphedit, you can find it under the ogm to avi conversion topics for how to use it. Add Avi mux, filewriter, a video decompressor, mpeg layer-3 (audio compressor I think). Leave the input object (title object), vorbis audio decoder, ffdshow video decoder, delete the rest of the objects.
press play after you've joined them together. -
Keep bumping, you might fall off the top and wind up right at the bottom.
Has it occured to you that maybe we just don't know the answer ?

With an attitude like yours, it's a wonder you get any help at all. Lighten up. -
Sounds like you need to install the Matroska Splitter filter.
Audio Video Interleave (AVI) is a container with a compressed Video stream, and a compressed Audio stream, and Windows usually comes with the Microsoft AVI Splitter.
Matroska (MKV) is also a container for Audio and Video streams but your system doesn't come with a Matroska Splitter filter.
Matroska also can do alot of things that AVI can't.
You can download the Gabest Matroska Splitter at:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/guliverkli/matroskasplitter_20040111-2.zip?download
To install for Win98-Me copy the file; "MatroskaSplitter.ax" from the "Release" folder to the: C:\Windows\System directory, then type "REGSVR32 MatroskaSplitter.ax" in the "Start-Menu / Run".
To install for Win2k-XP copy the file; "MatroskaSplitter.ax" from the "Unicode" folder to the: C:\Windows\System32 directory, then type "REGSVR32 MatroskaSplitter.ax" in the "Start-Menu / Run"
Now reboot and try your file again. The file should at least load into TMPGEnc if it works at all. ("File-Open / Show All files")
