Yesterday I bought the Pinnacle studio deluxe package, which includes a PCI AVDV capture card, and a full version of Pinnacle Studio 8.
I'm trying to convert some VHS tapes. Had 'good' success with my ATI capture card, VDUB, and TMPGEnc, bought the Pinnacle to hopefully improve on audio synch. With the Pinnacle, I get very smooth captures, perfect audio synch, BUT - every now again, (10 seconds, 20 seconds, random), there's a definite 'jerk' in the video. No audio synch problems at all, though. The pinnacle capture program gives no indication of dropped frames - I get absolutely zero, according to it. But this problem is there, every time. I've tried direct to MPEG2, various quality levels, and AVI, using various codecs (DV and MJPEG being the best two). System is P4, 2.4 GHz, SATA 150 GB drive - so no system issues I can see.
I'm about to return the Pinnacle card, but if anyone has any bright sparks, I'm all years.
By the way - I posted earlier that installing the pinnacle software and/or drivers broke TMPGEnc. I finally was able to get it to launch, at least, by deleting "CurrentCfg.tpr". Still not 'working' well, but at least can launch. I'm guessing I need to clean up all the wrappers and vfapi stuff. (uninstall/reinstall did not fix it).
