  1. Hi
Im wondering if anyone can give some advice.

I have just bought the following hardware

    JVC GR550 digital camcorder
    Miko DVD Recorder
Pica DVD Burner for my athlon xp 1900+ computer

The reason i bought the dvd burner for my computer is so that I can edit my movies on the computer, before burning them onto dvd for storage, and play back on the TV and DVD player.

The picture quality when connecting the camcorder, and recording straight through to the tv and dvd recorder is superb. The picture is crisp and clear

However, on 2 occasions, I have captured the movie (800 mb) downloaded it into my computer to edit it, adding titles ect.
When I then burn the movie from my computer to my dvdburner, and playpack on the tv / dvd player the picture quality is terrible.

I have placed photographs from my harddrive onto dvd, and all are of excellent quality.

My question.... how can i keep the quality of the movie intact when I run it through my computer 1st.
I have been using cyberlink powerproducer as editing software, and the movie file size isnt compressed.

I feel that I have wasted money buying a dvdburner for my computer, because the movies i burn to it are so bad.
    My computer is fast.

Is this a common problem ?, how can i get the movie thats downloaded from the camcorder into my computer then burnt to my dvdburner , of the same quality as if i downloaded my camcoder straight through the TV and then record on the mica dvd recorder.

hope all this makes sense, Im a total newbie at all this
any advice would be gratefully received

I download the movie into the computer using a usb port

    thanks

assume camcorder has firewire out, then you need firewire in on computer. combo usb2/firewire add-on card should be $30us and up.

Many different software programs will capture this and encode it to dvd compliant mpg (or vcd/svcd depending on clip size and your choise)

You did not waste money on dvd burner, you just have not found the proper way to bring the pieces together
