Hello all, my first post, so please be gentle.
I am at the end of my tether, I have real problems capturing from my camcorder. It is recognised by XP when switched on, the progs I have tried (Vegas 4, ULead DVD Movie factory, MS Movie Maker) can all control the camera, but then the preview window is blank and nothing is being captured (Vegas actually comes up with an capture error). Any ideas what could be wrong?
I used to be able to capture using same setup & ULead Video Studio 5 but have since had problems with windows & have had to repair the installation. Do I have to reformat etc. or is there some simple stuff I can try first? Could it be the driver for the camera, codec etc?
Hope you can give me some advice before I reformat Windows.

Two things to try. Try using DVIO and see if that works. This is assuming your cabling and hardware have not changed. If still not working, use Gspot and go to View>Installed Codecs>Video. Look for DSH - DVSD -DV Video Decoder - qdv.dll. You could also drop a previous DV file into Gspot and check to see if your codecs are still there. If this doesn't work, I'm not sure where to go. Could be your OS is damaged and reinstall may be the answer.

Thanks for the advice, good tool.
I have the qdv.dll codec, where can I find a previous DV to check if that works (example on the net somewhere?). Hope you can help.
Though it looks like the OS is a bit stuffed.
