I just wanted to know how to backup a DVD 9 disc onto a standard 4.7Gb DVD+r. I want to try and backup a few of the DVD's I watch a lot, but I just want the movie. I used a DVD ripping prgram and found the main movie files for STar Wars Attack of the clones and the total size of the movie files is 4.3Gb so I should be able to burn it. But I wanted to know is there a program that will let me just burn the movie without the extra features (If I want to watch them then I have the original). Or can I simply copy of the Video_Ts folder and the VTS_10_0.+ files and burn to a DVD+r. Will this work?

DVD Shrink in re-author mode will compress movie only to 4.37GB's,create and select a directory called VIDEO_TS to put the files in .
Then you burn it with Nero,Roxio,or Deep Burner.
DVD Shrink and Deep Burner are freeware and available in the Tools section. I've done SWII and it's over 4.37as movie only with one audio stream.

You can do it with DVDShrink but I prefer DVD2ONE

The difference is that DVD2ONE works better but you have to buy it whereas DVDShrink is FREEWARE.

As for as using DVD2ONE it couldn't be simpler.

1.) Rip DVD using FILE MODE ALL FILES
2.) In DVD2ONE select MOVIE ONLY
3.) Select the MAIN MOVIE title set and select the AUDIO/SUBS you want to keep.

Well to be "safe" I usually just rip ALL FILES and let DVD2ONE do it's thing.

Also I often use DVDShrink to "compress" the main movie using the STILL IMAGE option which allows me to make a second DVD-R backup with full functional menus and extras and usually with the main movie at STILL IMAGE you need no FURTHER compression on the extras.

Thanks for the help guys, I managed to backup the DVD using Nero. I tried it with Deepburner but I must have screwed up the settings and I burnt a coaster. I set the preferences in DVDShrink to target DVD size Custom 4.3GB instead of DVD5, does this make a difference at all. Because I originally burnt the first disc using deepburner but I had the shrink set at DVD 5 which didn't work (Probably me) and then the second time I set it at 4.3gb and used Nero and it worked fine. Does this make a difference at all?
