can someone advise me what is the best program to join audio files together

Let's say you were trying to join mp3 clips. I've found that it is usually best to convert to wav before attempting any joins. I would then join the wav files with either Steinberg WavLab or Goldwave. The same goes for files of other formats like mp2 and ac3. Both WavLab and Goldwave can re-encode to the original format. This method takes a little time but it works.
