  1. Ok, as a n0ob to dvd burning I made the mistake of buying memorex
dvd-r and -rw when I bought my burner. After pulling my hair out trying to find out why every single movie was freezing towards the end when I played them, I landed here and found that memorex are rated as the worst discs. I ran a dvdinfo test on them and yep, they crapped out after the 3GB point.

I'm wondering if there is a way to test media before burning them so I can return them if they are defective. I tried with dvdinfo but it tells me the disc is empty and wont do anything.

  4. Yep...since reading here and my own experience, memorex dvd media does suck a$$. I will never buy them again. I went and picked up some TDK's and also wrote memorex customer service an email asking them to send me some better discs. Before I thought of writing them I tossed two of them out but maybe they will exchange the ones I have left...who knows.. anyone ever tried this?

Ok I checked out the software you mentioned, but it only seems to identify the media, rather than test the speed or check it for read errors. Is there anything that can do this before I burn something to it?

  5. the media has to be recorded for dvdinfopro TO READ it. You can't read a book with blank pages...thats was blank media is.
