  1. Site: www.afreeCodec.com
    Launch: Upcoming Week

    Info:

I greatly appreciate all the input from you guys in the previous thread.
I have just arrived from vacation and have completed much more of the site. The site is 90% complete!

    ---
-A few have requested changing / editing the color theme.

I will make the site available in multiple color formats in the near future! This is a good idea, and is taken into consideration. I will try to provide around 3 different color themes to browse the site in.

    ---
    - A few requests for codecs were recieved.

I have completed the Video Codecs page. I know there is a lot more video codecs, however , alot are unsupported and very rare to find. The codecs on the site you see now were a tough task to locate, but was successful!

If you know anymore video / audio codecs please let me know!
(Please include the codec name, official site, and Download page)
If you know the FOURCC's thats a plus!

    ---
    - Please submit your comments / opinions!

I am taking everyones opinions into consideration. Afterall the community comes first! Any help is greatly appreciated.
Those who have a codec / video related website, can feel free to add a link / banner from the "affiliations page"

Once again thanks alot for the comments and input.
    Greatly appreciated!

Here are a couple of audio codecs I think you should include:

    Ogg Vorbis ACM: http://sourceforge.net/projects/vorbisacm

    Microsoft's ADPCM

    Windows Media Audio

    Some video codecs:

    Huffyuv

H.261/2/3/4 (H.261 is what mpeg-1 was based on, H.263 is what mpeg-4 was based on, I believe, and H.264 is supposed to be supported in the upcoming AOD (HD-DVD) format, which the first specifications were recently approved by the DVD Forum. Microsoft versions of H.261/3 came with Windows ME on my machine)

VP3/4/5/6: http://www.on2.com (VP6 was just reviewed in doom9's codec comparison and is supported on China's EVD format, which will be coming out this year. VP3 was made open source by On2 and is what Ogg Theora is based on)

Your site looks great, but I think when one clicks on a codec to get information I would rather see the author's name/company instead of just a link to the "official site", especially if I had dialup because I wouldn't want to have to wait for the page to load just to find out who developed the codec. Otherwise you have a great site put together, and I have no complaints about the color scheme.

  3. Thanks for the help!

I have added a author / company name inside all the audio and video codecs!

I have also added the codecs you provided. If theres anything I missed let me know, looks much better with the author name as well.

    Thanks again!
