  1. what is the best version of cce to use with dvd2svcd will it support 2.67.00.23?

  2. YES -- as long as it is not the DEMO or TRIAL version. However, you must enable the SAFE MODE (FRAME SERVING) option on the ENCODER tab of DVD2SVCD.

  3. I believe that 2.5 version would be the best and safest one. Later releases had issues of some kind.

From the bugs, I would recommend asking them to trade in your newer version for the older 2.5 version (I never purchased the later version, but saw a lot of unhappy customers on this forum).

For a cheaper alternative, try CCE Basic. It is limited in passes (1 pass), but I think that is about the only downside to this version.

TMPGENC, for the money, is a good one also

  4. I use version 2.66 and have not encountered any issues (even with Safe Mode unchecked). I also have used 2.5 and frankly, found no difference other than I had to run the AMD CRC patch against 2.5.

I have heard of issues with 2.65 and really do not know if this was resolved in 2.66 and 2.67, but I have run w/o problems -- maybe they were fixed, or maybe I'm just lucky. .

BTW -- if you go Basic and there is a 1-pass limitation, definitely use the D2SRoba utility as it will provide 1-pass VBR that rivals 3-pass in quality. Heck, use it with any version CCE !! It's FREE.

    * Admins -- I've put in a request to add D2SRoba to the Tools section.
