I've got a two DVD set of music videos which I've ripped, encoded to MPEG-2 for SVCD and then joined together ready to be split apart again into three 800MB sections for fitting on three CD-R.

While doing this, I noticed that the second DVD once converted to SVCD whilst being perfect when it was in its separate audio & video streams, got slightly corrupted when I muxed them together using the TMPGEnc MPEG Tools. Once muxed together, the audio stream went from being 66:37 long to 66:22 long, and it became chopped up with the sound stalling every couple of seconds for the last 30 seconds of the video. Up until that point, the muxed stream was perfect.

The only thing unusual about the whole thing is that the last 3 minutes of the video are black screen (no picture at all). The video stream *is* exactly the same length as the audio stream, it's just that the last 3 minutes of the video stream contains no picture - or that picture is just a completely black screen.

Anyway, I got around the problem by getting Womble MPEG Editor to mux it together instead of TMPGEnc, but I was curious as to why this might have happened. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before?
