    Downside of DVDXCopy Xpress

    Movie only

    1. You can keep only 1 subtitle... I neeed to keep more than 1
    2. You can keep only 1 audio track...
    3. I dont care for the burning engine not fully compatible with all my players.
    4. Crashes on too many DVD's during Rip.
    5. The Blacklist with this program....weighs more than websters dictionary.

    Full Mode.

.You cannot remove unwanted Audio Tracks.

  2. Good Points, do you know if there is any video/audio quality loss or gain using dvdxcopy express compared to the dvdshrink/nero method??

well said that man , not just this forum though, I think it's life in general

DVD Shrink has a lot of flaws. Ever had a disc die at 90% ... what a nice waste of 1-2 hours. All because it refused to rip.
I've never had a disk die at 90%, but I've only ripped about 200 DVD's so I'm sure it could still happen, but just hasn't yet. As for wasting 1-2 hours, man, I rip and shrink with DVDShrink in no more then 45 minutes and then a 15 minute burn with Nero and I'm done. I just don't get how adding 20-25 minutes to the process with DVD Decrypter makes things better. Don't get me wrong, DVD Decrypter is great for single layer DVD's, but other then that.........

  5. Everyone has their own preference.
I've had DVDshrink fail decrypting on 2 DVD's as far as I remember where DVD decrypter had no problems.
Therefore my preference is DVD decrypter always first.
From there I will play with the files on the hard drive to see weather I'll use DVDshrink or TMPGENC, and also weather I would have room for menus and still keep good(acceptable) quality.

Another downside of DVDXCopy Xpress = $$$

Jeezz, I better check my bloodpressure after reading these posts. It's like a soap opera and you want to see how it's going to end.

I feel sorry for anyone that gets you on their jury.
Let's try this again. Try READING it this time:
I agree with Jarvis on this one. We ALL know that SOME people get their jolly's at least "copying" DVD's that they do not own. I personally believe there is no real money to be made selling copies of DVD's....which nullifies "The Industry's" claim that piracy is costing them millions. However.....since rented DVD's do not come with covers....and there are web sites devoted to just DVD Covers.....Hmmmm.
    NO...I'm no angel myself either....but let's not kid ourselves....OK?

Where is YOUR name in there anywhere. See how the word SOME is in caps?...meaning SOME people...again...unless your real name in SOME....you are reading something into my statement.
    How does that saying go?

Just my 2 cents. When I back my movies up, I use DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink depending on the number of layers the movie has.

If it has 1 layer DVD Decrypter. if it has 2 DVD Shrink and reauthor the movie create an image and burn with DVD Decrypter. DVD Decrypter is my primary burner. 8)

If I get an error backing up a movie 99% of time 1 or the other will work. I don't care about menus or extras, so I rarely have to compress my movies very much.

Exception!!! If it's 1 layer then what the heck I'll take menus and extras and I'm done in 15 to 45 minutes. The whole process usually takes about 45 minutes maybe less, but that's just my 2 cents.

I make backups from DVD9 to DVD5 keeping the menu structure and usually all extras (but with worst quality) and removing only unused audio channels and subtitles to make more space for the main movie. My aim is that the result could be played on a 1st gen. YAMAHA DVD-S795 player too.

    I use the following combination:
    1) Nero Recode 2.0.0.7 (saving to HDD image) with AnyDVD 3.2.1.1 running in the background (ripping and region-switching problems eliminated)
    2) Nero 6.3.0.2 for burning the image to DVD+RW or DVD+R

This seems to me an easy and trouble-free combo, though without much authoring options.

Well, I like to put in my 2 cents.

    @hech54

Obviously, you stated you agreed to side with Jarvis1781. Your "SOME" is in capitals so that means you are implying. It's the same as putting in quotes but shouting it out instead. Now who is Jarvis communicating with? His post blatantly was to q1aqza so since you jumped on the bandwagon, what do you think us third party people are thinking. Hey! Jarvis1781 got a ally! Personally, you should've got rid of the CAPs as all it's doing is pointing fingers and at the present time, I'm analyzing who the players who are involved you are pointing to. Of course, you were clever enough to not mention names as you can always fall back and say "I wasn't talking to you, I was talking about...about someone else in another thread! Yeah, that's it." Ahhh...the "benefit of the doubt" technique.

    @to all,

Do what you gotta do to make it work. If you prefer to go the best long route, then so be it. The best method is "your" working method. There is more than one way to skin a cat. People here should be giving suggestions, not commands. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

    No we can't :P

as this is what always happens

    does everyone know that?

    No they don't

    so it will always happen

Very well said . That was exactly how I saw hech54's post and hence my subsequent response.
