    Yes, you should be able to select other codecs in the 'Video Codec' option of the 'Capture Settings' - assuming you are capturing as AVI and not MPEG.

  4. Ulead is particularly good at encoding into MPEG-2 or MPEG-2 provided you have a fast enough computer. I sometimes encode in real-time into MPEG-2 using the DVD NTSC template, and it looks almsot exactly as good as what I get from running Mainconcept outside of real time.
    One big advantage of Ulead's excellent video editor is that it has a bunch of real-time encodiing options built in as profiles. Find them under CAPTURE -> SETTINGS -> PROFILES (on my Ulead Mead Studio Pro 6.0, anyway).

    Ulead VS7 IS NOT capable of capturing through HuffYUV codec - INFORMATION FROM THEIR OFICIAL SUPPORT STAFF.

    I am a registered user and asked them specifically about HuffYUV, they told me UVS CAN NOT recognize this Codec cause of Hw/sw diferences when capturing;

    I haven't understood exactly what they said, but since its from the oficial support and that's what they said, I forgot HufYUV; BTW, I only make rea-time with VS7, no dropped frames, very good quality;

    Hi, I am trying VS7, and I am using the Video In on my Asus 9600XT, which has the ATI Rage Theater chip on it. I would like to capture music videos and maybe even movies off of my satellite(bell expressvu), which is supposedly 480x480 res. I am having very little luck finding the right program that won't drop frames.
    Maybe I am asking too much from this card, maybe I need a stand alone capture board?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

    I have an obsolete AiW 8500DV, and I capture analog realtime MPEG-2 using VS7 - no dropped frames at all.

    I've realized that othet tools like crap ATIMMC and specially NVE drops lots of frames, so I'd rather stick with VS7;

    I capture music at 720 X 480, VBR 6700 Mbps, LPCM audio, try these settings and check....

    Zetti, thanks for your reply. I just tried those setting and i'm still dropping frames. Could it be my onboard sound?

    Thanks

    Yes......well, there are so many things involved in dropping frames that it's very difficult to point an exact reason......

    I can't be of much help, all I can say is : don't save money, you have to get from very good to excelent hardware to make proper MPEG-2 recording in a computer;
    For example, onboard cards of whatever kind ARE NOT suitable for this task, as a suggestion get a "rated 9 ~10" PCI audio card;

    Good luck,

    For a user friendly, quick, easy in-sync analog to dvd solution consider looking here:
    http://www.adstech.com

    from $99 up
    jsut beware of early IDVD-1 unit which had a lot of problems, thereby generating a lot of negitive feedback. Had it and gave away. Now have IDVD-2 and is woking great, no sync issue ever.
