  1. I hope no one will jump down my throat for even asking for help with this software...I have a Dell Dimension 4500 I purchased a year ago, and just installed the necessaries to convert digital video and create DVD's...pending obtaining different software, I would be very much appreciative if someone could offer a suggestion to address a rendering problem.

The software did allow me to successfully go from an eleven minute captured video to burned DVD...the original file was captured as an avi file.

However, I then attempted to convert a sixty minute video to burned DVD...this time, the file was captured as an mpg file, if that makes a difference...and then, when I try to render it, I consistently get the following error message about 10 mb's into the rendering process: An error occurred while rendering your movie. Please try selecting another format."

I am not sure what this means...trying to save the edited movie as a file on the computer makes no difference...

I have done all the things you are supposed to do first, including defragging, turning off antivirus and other programs.

My system has capabilities which should be adequate for the task...512 mb's of RAM, 2.3 Pentium IV...

BTW, I was able to successfully burn a DVD using Roxio's DVD Builder software, utilizing the very same mpg file which chokes Movie Maker. The only advantage of trying to create the movie with Movie Maker would be to have the advantage of one of their templates, which does make nice intro/outro and transitions in a Christmas theme if selected.

There seems to have been no one at Roxio's support group for a week now...guess everybody deserves a holiday.

I will be receiving some version of Pinnacle software shortly, but if Videowave is simply not salvagable, I will accept that.

    Thanks again for any help!

Sounds like the progam dosen't support mpeg. Try to covnert it first to AVI with Virtualdub (see Tools section) or the MPEG-2 version of it to see if it works and if you want to use that program.

  4. Thanks for the suggestion...but...I recaptured the movie in avi format, tried to render, and it gave me the same error message.

I am pretty close to giving up on this thing.
