  1. I am getting ready to order some Ritek DVD+R's. Before I order, how can I guarantee I get Grade A media? Such as stores that specifically say they are grade A.

Even though they are a bit more expensive, I'll probably go with DVD+R's rather than DVD-R's because my Plextor 708A can burn +R at up to 8x, plus I know that +R's play on all my players.

    Thanks,
    Digital Man

They may be a few cents higher but their excellent service, more than makes up for the many hours of my life lost after dealing with Meritline. And considering all the money I lost dealing with Meritline... it's as if they want to mess up you order as they only give store credit, forcing you to use them again..NO WAY!

Is there a way to look at the disks themselves to determine what grade disks you received? I just ordered a 100 pack Riteks, but is there any distinguishing way to determine which grade I got? Or is there a program?

Your reply post in this thread infers that the ritek dvds shipped by Rima.com are the so called grade A. Where on the Rima.com site did you see this stated? I can not find it anywhere.[/quote]

Burn one, then use a program to read back and check for errors. DVD Info Pro, Nero CD/DVD speed, if you have a Lite On DVD-ROM you can use KProbe.

The so called "Grade A" Riteks have a matte silver top with Ridata etched on the hub. Most retailers only sell the "Grade A" Riteks.

If you're in doubt to what a retailer sells, call them. This will also aid in letting you know what kind of company they are. If it takes them an hour to answer the phone, and the operator doesn't have a clue,... stay away.

Before I make a first time buy from any company, I always call first, and ask stupid questions to see how well they respond. Gives me a chance to see if they care about the customer or not.

If ther Hub says RIDATA (US) or RITEK (NON-US) then they are supposed to be grade A. Mine burn perfectly but the edges look like hell......go figure?

So, I guess the bottom line is that a person will not really know until he receives them. You wrote "If ther Hub says RIDATA (US) or RITEK (NON-US) then they are SUPPOSED to be grade A", which means to me that there is doubt.
