  1. Hello,
I am getting a Pioneer DVR-106 to replace my CD-RW burner to be able to burn DVDs. I would like to be able to burn bothe + and - media to be able to playback on my Pioneer DV464 standalone player. The standalone player says it only plays the -R format, but according to other users of this player, it plays + and - and i understand it might be a combination of using the right media, software and firmware.
Do i need to upgrade the firmware when i receive the unit, and if yes which firmware, how and where do i download it from. I would like to get this right the first time so i do not ruin the unit please.

I have the pioneer 106D and I used this firmware to up-date it. There was no problems with it. Check out this site.

  4. This should be in the DVD writers forum not the DVD recorders forum.
