I have experienced alot of my media to skip and freeze during playback burned by my 2 pioneer a06 drive. This happen to my backed up ps2 games and dvd video disk. I tried different media, recording at 1x, updating my firmware. 1x seems to help, but didn't stop. I use nero 5.5, and Tmpdvd author. However, everything worked fine with my nec 1100a (Flawless, no problem at all).
What do you guys think i should do. Give up and buy a sony 510 or plextor 708? Or maybe, someone could give me some advice that would help in dealing with this annoying pioneer drive? Thanks in advance!!!

Sure, you could try another drive. Maybe you have a defective one. We don't know anything about your system, so it's hard to diagnose the problem here. Why did you switch from the NEC to the Pioneer?
I have a 106 and it works very well. No coasters with Ritek G04 DVD-Rs. I would try Ritek or Taiyo-Yuden media. Optodisc, Prodisc, Memorex 4x and TDK 2x have all worked pretty well with the drive as well.
Search the forum for the standard drive problems (check DMA settings, update firmware, update software, etc).
Good Luck,

i too have had no problems making xbox dvd's useing Nero 6 and ritek g4's at 4x with my pioneer a06.
moveis, games, ect ... everything plays back perfectly!
Are you useing the same system and software and media that you used for your Nec1100?
Could be a bad burner? or media? or buy Nec 1300a!
