  1. I put a MPG on my CDR using Nero 5.5. When I play it in Windows Media Player, the movie shows just fine and smooth.

When I play normal VCDs the VCD player works fine. But when I try to play CDRs on my VCD player, the CDR shows lots of blocky images, poor quality and kinda skips. The audio isn't affected much. Anyone know how to fix this?

  2. I've been having the exact same problem. I'm using a Toshiba SD-2150 DVD player. but this problem only happens with about 2 of 3 vcds that I burn. what could be the problem?? when I play the vcd, it shows blocks, skips, and the audio pops. it works fine in my dvd player in my laptop using powerdvd to play it. PLEASE help! thanks.

  3. Try to convert the DAT file to MPG file
    with VCDgear. (5-10mins)
    Then play with MediaPlayer
    Maybe it won't help
    but thats just an idea.

  4. Today is the first time that I have had this problem as well. I ripped the film "The Gift", carried out the usual processes with dvd2avi, tmpgenc, vcd imager (to convert to bin) and finally cd win to burn it out. This particular vcd plays fine on my p.c but on my standalone dvd player (Eclipse dvd695)is playing to fast and the screen keeps saturating with a green colour. What is causing this?

  5. O.k. This may sound like a stupid solution - but anythings worth checking if it can help?
The pal template on tmpgenc, had inexplicably changed from the one that I had previously been using. It's worth checking this, as not only will it solve later probs in playback but also halved the encoding time now required from eight hours to four!!

  6. rage_311: i've got a toshiba as well, cept i have the sd-3109. It does the same thing with the cd-r's I have tried (cursor colorful 80min). I tried memorex 74min cd-rw's and it seems they work a lot better, only a couple skips like every 15 mins or so (2 sec skip), but the sound stays in sync.
What type of cd-r's and cd-rw's have you tried in your dvd player with success?

I had this crappy problem with my apex player (660a). Still does it to this day, wish I never purchased this unit. There are two reasons why it's happening. Player does not having error correction and burning process. You can try reburning @ 2X and see what happens. This would sometimes resolved my problem or you can get a pioneer. hope it helps. Garman

From the symptoms you described, it's very likely that the media you're using doesn't work well with your DVD player. Since you didn't specify what kind of DVD player you have, I can't say much else.

    rage_311 -

VCDHelp's DVD player guide indicates that your Toshiba SD-2150 doesn't play CDRs well if at all. If you must use CDRs, try HP or Princo, but you'll probably have better success with CDRWs.

Your DVD player should play CDRs. Try different brands (look for different color dyes) and find one that works well. Occassionally, I get a bad CDR or two in a pack, so maybe that happened to you.
