I recently bought the Cyberhome DVR 2500, which I believe is essentially the same as the 1500 except that it's black in color. The manual says that the title name can be changed from the title screen on both +RW AND +R disks. I find that I can only change the title name on +RW, likewise I can only change the thumbnail picture on +RW disks even though the manual says you can do the same on +R disks.
Could the brand of disk make a difference?
Also, the manual says you can overwrite existing titles (recordings). How can this be possible on +R disks? I thought that once you wrote to a +R disk it is permanent (I know you can hide titles but you can't reclaim the disk space).
Thanks for any advice.

Personally I think this low-end DVD+R/RW recorder is just a digital version of VCR with an average picture quality, I'll definitely return it and get a Panasonic model instead. -
Perhaps part of the question is how much time and effort you want to put into the project. If you use DVD RW media in the table top recorder and then if you have a DVD burner in your computer, go ahead and burn the TV show or what ever on the set top, then edit it on the computer to what you want and burn to a final copy with DVD R media.

Since my original post I have found two other reviews of the DVR 2500, one on this forum and one on Amazon.com, which address the problem of not being to edit the title name on +R disks. Apparently it is an inherent fault of the unit, and not a defect. The manual, which says you CAN edit titles on +R disks, is simply wrong.
This is unfortunate, because otherwise this recorder does a good job and offers very good quality for the price.
I guess I'll just live with this quirk, and maybe buy a DVD burner for my computer if I really need to generate better titles and menus. Also, I assume I can copy DVD's made on the Cyberhome unit by playing them in the DVD-ROM drive of my computer, and then burning a blank in a new DV burner which will take the place of my CD drive. Is this correct? -
