I usually rip using dvd decrypter and then shrink it with dvd shrink.
Some times I noticed that dvd shrink cannot open these rips. I used
to ignore that dvd but am curious to know. Anybody faced such issue.

    The error I get is:
    ---------------------

DVD Shrink encountered an issue and cannot continue.

    The error is:

    Cannot decrypt VOBS.

    The reason is: Unknown.

  3. I get that message when I create a video_ts file with Tmpgenc DVD Author and then try to use DVDshrink 3 (beta). There is no error is I use DVDshrink 2.3

When you get the error which DVD shrink is it? Have you tried 2.3? I suspect it is the same problem.

i got the same error "cannot decrypt vobs". after searching here and then on digital-digest i found a post that this is a known issue with 3.05 beta and a work around was to use version 2.3 for now. i d/l 2.3 and it worked fine.
@ presto, i got the same thing as you a couple of times using TDA and 2.3 worked for me. i captured mpeg2 with my ATI AIW and authored with TDA and tried to shrink with ver. 3.05 beta but had to use ver. 2.3. will try to find the url and post here.

You need to rip in file mode. If you rip in ifo mode DVD Shrink cannot read ifo rips. They lack the VIDEO.TS.IFO that DVD Shrink needs to read. DVD2ONE can open ifo rips however.

    Thanks for all the replies.

wulf109 - I do rip using file mode.

tigerman8u - I tried with DVD Shrink 3.0 Beta 5. I haven't tried with 2.3 version. I'll try with 2.3 version next time (I deleted all the ripped files)

    presto - I used DVD Shrink 3.0 Beta 5.

  8. Hi all.
    "Cannot Decrypt VOBS" error
This occurs when a DVD is opened in file mode, but whichever software ripped the VOBS forgot to remove the copy protection flag. Maybe DVD Shrink should continue, read the data anyway and hope for the best.
As previously stated, using v2.3 with "No Compression" will then allow v3.0 to read the files.

  10. You're welcome, PhreakPhish.

However, you might want to try v3.1.4, as this issue should have been fixed.

If you encounter any problem with it I'd suggest you visit its official bug reports forum:
