What is the remedy for this type of avi.....?

Hi,

I've d/l a 1.2g avi file. When I tried to use avicodec (and gspot) to find out the codec, it showed:

Video : 1.6 GB, 2481 Kbps, 23.976 fps, 720*480 (4:3), = Unknown, Unsupported

It can detect the frame rate and resolution but not the codec.

I've tried to open it in tmpgenc and virtualdub but they both failed.

Can ne1 tell me what I can do?

Try downloading ffdshow and set it to decode all file types it has to choose then see if it works,also have you already divx and xvid codecs installed?Can you watch the video in any video players?
