Just thought i would pass on my experiences with the above. I brought mine from 'special reserve' in Sawbridgeworth Herts for £60 including the firmware upgrade on CD (in was in the box). I know I could have got one cheaper on the net but i quite like being able to take electrical stuff back and speak to someone face to face. Anyway i could not have been happier it played some -r DVDs i had burnt and some ex rental DVDs that skipped like a boxer in training on my old samsung 709. Things went a bit pear shaped when i attempted to play some MP3's the sound was incredibly distorted, i then tried some of my VCD's , this produced the same distorted sound as did some DVDs i had got free with magazines and newspapers etc.. I played around with the various options and tried some more disc's and came to the conclusion that it only happened on disc's that were not in dolby digital or any form of surround sound. I even hooked it up to my hi-fi amp and got the same problem. I returned the player and the staff seamed to be aware of this behavior and asked me if i had tried changing the audio settings (especially the spidf). They then exchanged the player. I took the player home and hooked it up, Problem solved the disc's that had produced distorted sound now played fine, that is until i ran the firmware upgrade and then (yep you guessed it) the distorted sound returned. I returned the player and got a refund and went to my local W H smiths and got a Cyberforce 400 for 50 quid. This plays all disc's with no problems even after applying the region hack (via handset this time). I did have a bit of a shock when i went into the menu's as they are exactly the same as the Ronin (the same layout and graphics). But everything played, thanks to all those who have recommended the cyberforce, I would have never thought of buying a piece of electrical equipment from WH Smiths and in this case would have missed out on a bargain.
