    Hi.

I have a DVD, which holds a video of #3 GB (audio + video). I would like to extract the video MPEG-2 stream without audio (which is AC3) into one single file (*.mpg).

    How can I do that?

I tried DVD Decrypter, but there I get *.vobs and not an *.mpg file.

The reason I would to do that is that I want to keep the original MPEG-2 stream, without reencoding the movie (= loss of quality).

    Thanks!

  2. TMPGEnc DVD Author will extract an MPG file. As far as without Audio...you will have to de-multiplex it using TMPGEnc and then multiplex it with no audio.
Although I don't know why you would need to do that. What are you trying to accomplish.

    Hope this helps

  3. You could also use VOBRator or VOBEdit to demultiplex, and btw; you'll get a *.m2v file (A mpeg-2 video file).

    VobEdit did the job.
    Thanks a lot!

SAme question ... but this time, the sound (.mp2) is embedded into an VTS menu.

So ... how can I extract sound from a DVD, which is used inside a VTS menu? VobEdit doesn't seem to be able to do that.

    Thanks.

The audio will still be found in a VOB. I'd imagine ripping the right VOB, and selecting the correct stream (in stream processing mode) with DVDDecrypter would do the trick?

...and don't go grave-robbing (waking up a 3 year old thread) - start a new thread instead - it's really easy.

  7. Open the menu vob in DGIndex and then File->Save Project. The audio will be extracted automatically.

Get Smartripper and use the stream processing option to demux to separate file.

Are you sure that SmartRipper extracts the audio from a _menu_? It looks like it works the same way as DVDDecrypter, i.e. it just demuxes the movia data (audio and video), and doesn't allow access to the menu sound.

    Thanks,

Same here ... DGIndex extracts the sound of the video file (movie), not the one of the menu contained inside the VTS.

    Thanks,

VOBRator will extract the audio from a menu.

Of course it extracts the menu audio. I just tested it with no problem. I don't know why you keep talking about a menu VTS. A menu vob is always numbered with a "0", so typically it'll be VTS_01_0.VOB. The other vobs within that VTS will have different numbers, like VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, etc. Load the VTS_01_0.VOB, if that's the one with the menu, and Save Project

Just make sure you have Audio->Output Method->Demux All Tracks checked. It's default, I'm pretty sure.

You were right. I wasn't aware that _0 stands for the VTS menu. I was able to extract the audio track. However, 30 seconds were recorded (1250 frames MP2 à 24 ms), but DGIndex only extracted 1245 frames !?

Where's the error. Does DGIndex not extract all frames, or is the DVD badly authored (DVD-lab PRO)?

    Thanks,

You are confused. 30 seconds at 30fps is only 900 frames.

Forgot to mention ... this is PAL (25 fps). Sorry!

Besides that ([DVB-S] PAL, MPEG-2, MP2, AC3), video frames last 40 ms, MP2 audio 24 ms and AC3 32 ms. All this ... to the best of my knowledge.

Anyhow ... 5 frames are missing.
