Hi Folks,
Just trying to figure out how I can do this. I have matieral here that is in two formats, 16:9 and 4:3, and I need to author it onto a single disc. (this is not from a rip)
I have DVDit PE and it will author 16:9 or 4:3, but I was disappointed to find out that it won't author both at the same time. Once you start a project in 16:9 you can't add any 4:3 material and vice versa. (which is disappointing given the cost of this software)
So does anyone know of software that will do both aspect ratios AND encode to dolby digital? I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has authored a disc with both formats on it. (original material)
Regards,
Savant

DVDit PE will encode straight to Dolby Digital, but it won't allow multiple aspect ratios on the same disc unfortunately.
I could easily letterbox the 16:9 into 4:3, but I was really hoping to encode it to disc as anamorphic widescreen.

TMPGEnc DVD-Author, because it accepts many individual DVD-compliant MPEG-2 files, will author these as separate tracks, which in turn will translate into multiple video titlesets (VTS). The aspect ratio of each track (titleset) is preserved, which means it's possible to mix such on one disc. This normally happens on commercial DVDs: the main movie is 16:9, the extras are mostly 4:3. The only difference between two tracks, one true anamorphic 16:9 and the other 4:3, is a flag that's set on encoding the source to MPEG-2. It's a bummer that something as simple as bundled Sonic MyDVD (for example) that creates multiple titlesets depending on how many *.m2v files you give it want ALL of them to be the same aspect ratio.
For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i". -
You might try authoring each video with with Sonic to get your
AC3 and then importing those VOBs into TDA.
