  1. i only have 1 computer and i'm still running a P3-733, so usually it takes 8-10hrs for TMPGEnc to finish encoding a SVCD. i need to use my system for other things, so i've always surfed, emailed, chatted away since these newer versions of the program don't seriously lag ur desktop like the older version so you can't do anything at all while it's working away. but my question is that since TMPGEnc used up 100% of the CPU, will reducing that number by doing other things like surfing around have any adverse effect on the encoding? or does it not matter and it just makes the encoding take longer? even as i'm typing this right now, it's encoding a file for me i just started that has 27hrs remaining...maybe cuz i chose Highest quality for Motion search precision...but that's just way too long for me to go without using my pc. any thoughts?

I think it does not effect encoding. That being said, I leave mine in its own little world when it's capturing. If I look at it too long, it drops a frame.

You may want to consider spending $100-200 to purchase a hardware encodeing capture device that does real time mpg1-2

    http://www.adstech.com USB REALTIME CAPTURE

    DvdExpress $99
    Instant Dvd-2 $169

STAY AWAY FORM idvd-1 UNSTABLE AND AUDIO SYNC PROBLEMS imho

  4. You can always change the priority of Tmpgenc goto option>task priority then you can select how much usage you want to allow it
