I bought Pirates of the Carribean and for some reason I can't back it up using DVD SHRINK. I searched the forum but didn't come up with much info. Anyone have problems backing up this movie? I would appreciate any suggestions! Thanks in advance!

Greetings;
I was able to back up Pirates of the Carribean.
Used DVDDecryptor for initial backup.
Then DVD shrink to fit to size for a 4.7 GB DVD.
Burned on both +R and -R
Only noticable thing I had to do was remove three Audio tracks.
I removed both of the commentary tracks..and one of the foreign tracks.
(can't remember off the top of my head.)
Plays back just fine if everything I have put it in so far.
Good luck to you."If all the worlds a stage, and we but actors upon it...how come I am just a light technician!?!?!?" -
I have the 2 disc special collectors edition. It's a 2 layer disc. I tried using dvd decrypter to rip the files then used dvd shrink but it failed to burn in nero and img tool burn. I tried just using DVD SHRINK but the file was enormous. So I took out all the subtitles and only left 1 audio in there but it failed to burn again. I'm wondering if there is something encoded in the disc itself that prevents me from backing it up. I'm using a RITEK DVD+RW 4x disc to burn. I want to make sure it will burn ok before I use a DVD+ OR DVD-.
Thanks for responding. I hope I can get some guidance on this. I've used the same DVD+RW for other backups.
LOL@me! I figured it out and I'll let you know if it turns out ok! -
Ripped with dvd decrypter shrunk with dvd2one without a problem. Without removing anything. Looks Ok to me.
Not bothered by small problems...

Hmm, this is one of the few movies for which the DVDDecrypter>DVDShrink>DVDFab trick to get menu and movie only wouldn't work for me. But reauthoring the movie only from the DVDDecrypter file in DVDShrink, then burn, worked fine.
Could it be this movie has extra angles or some such, I haven't checked? That would explain why Shrink got indigestion during the rip and made a huge file for you. Since others have been able to back up this movie, why don't you try DVDDecrypter>DVDShrink>different burning programs?Pull! Bang! Darn! -
I was able to back up my copy no problem. Ripped it to an ISO image with DVDdecrypter, mounted that image as a drive with Daemon tools and then used DVDshrink to back it up.

There nothing special about backing up this movie with DVDShrink or anything else.
In Shrink chose reauthor after initial analysis and in the second window that opens, drag and drop the main movie. You will notice that a much of other smaller files are also added to the main file that will appear firt and on top. Slect and delete ALL but the top file.
Remove any audio and ST you don't need to further reduce its size. Remeber, this is a pretty long movie.
Let the Auto adjust the compression of do it your self. I usually bring a tiny bit less than max to make sure that it doesn't go beyond the DVD-R capacity. DOing so will also prevent it from burning to the very edge of the disk which can possible cause playback problems at the end of the movie. That's it. Hit Back up and use Deep analysis if yoou want. I've done it twice on my copy of Pirates due to the fact that I dropped the 1st backup disk and scratched all to hell.No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD! -
I believe it's a multi-angle movie. Your ignoring what Shrink is telling you. It backs up just fine in Shrink.
Rip just the main movie in DVDDecryptor, that will go a long way in eliminating Shrinks issues. To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
Actually, I don't believe the movie is mult-angle. I backed it up with no issues. I just stripped the subs and all of the extraneous languages (who speaks french anyway?) and backed up the entire movie disc. Sounds like the original author's problem is burning... of course he doesn't tell us what error the burning program is giving him/her, but it sounds like his/her problem is burning, not shrinking. It also seems that although they are posting a question in this forum, they are not really reading the suggestions put forth by it's users, and just assuming it is their specific copy of Pirates that won't let them back it up when 19 other people have done it without issue.

I also backed up this movie with no issues.
1) Ripped to HD in file mode with DVD Decrypter.
2) Nero Recode2 did the rest! -
Pretty much the same as everyone else...
Ripped entire disc (in file mode) to HD with DVD Decrypter.
I then used the "Reauthor" tab in DVD Shrink and selected only the main movie. I removed the language tracks I didn't want and then compressed to max level.
It barely fit on the DVD+R, but it worked and the quality wasn't bad at all. Not what you'd expect from such a high compression setting. -
I also had no problems using DVDDecrypter to rip the DVD to my HD, and then using Nero Recode to compress it. The results were fantastic for both the movie disc and the extra's disc. :P

I ripped the movie only using DVD Shrink and burned with Nero and no problems whatsoever

I want to say thank you for all that have responded to my question. I appreciate it very much.

I was able to back up SEABISCUIT with DVD SHRINK & burned with Nero without any problems before I did Pirates of the Carribean. That is why I did not bother to say what the nero error msg was. So I don't think it is a burning issue. Some of you have stated you had no problems in using DVD SHRINK & burned with Nero. I did mention I have a 2 disc collectors edition of PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN. None of you have told me if you have the same one or if the one's you all have are fullscreen version. The dvd+rw I used is erased before I burned.
I am trying out some of the suggestions you all have made. Last night I thought I figured it out but after using DVD SHRINK. I played back the mpegs on my pc and there was no picture just a blank black screen. It could be something I am doing wrong in DVD SHRINK. I am using "iooi's" suggestion of ripping with DVD DECRYPTER and then using DVD2ONE. I'll let you all know if I'm successful with "iooi's suggestion. Thanks again for all the replies. I appreciate it. -
I finally was able to back up Pirates of the Carribean. Used DVD DECRYPTER to rip movie the whole movie then used DVD SHRINK & NERO to burn. I think the first time I made the mistake iwas in DVD SHRINK. Thanks for all the replies!
